Report

Report:Having seen the ballot sheets it was always going to be a tight run thing as Dulwich 1sts took on BCC, always a tough encounter and proven to be a banana skin in seasons past. First up, Paul faced the full force of Matt. Having only witnessed him in action from the balcony away from home, Paul struggled early on but managed to find his way in to the match taking the third and recovering from 1/6 in the fourth to edge ahead 7/6 and 8/7. However, that was as close as he got with Matt stepping over the line in four.

Across the way, Neil was keen to prove his worth as number 1 after the guest appearance PJ last week. Getting a lot of Ribery from his team-mates for having ideas above his station he looked to be proving a point when leading 10/8 in the second but Tim was having none of it and shut the door on any upset by winning that and closing it out in three.

To be Frank, I didn’t see a lot of Sam & Jim. What I did seemed to involve Sam with his hands on his hips, and Jim going his usual shade of red. The scoreline indicates a good battle, and certainly Jim seemed pleased to not be in a fifth game!

The match of the night featured the two players that would be most comfortable on the red carpet. Sporting his own slant on the Alice band James was under pressure as soon as a the line-ups were announced and Lauren sporting her stunning new hair-cut was matched up with him. The first game was all rather Messi with James firing in some winners, Lauren tidying up and the latter tactic coming out on top. James then took hold of the match, well the start of each game and had just enough of a lead to get home in the second and third, but 6/1 in the fourth proved to be not quite enough and Lauren levelled things up. The fifth was nip & tuck to 5-5 before Lauren eased home to win the tie and the match.

Last on Lewis, was… well last on. Humberto gave the BCC man something to think about, particularly in the second that Lewis edged 12/10. The quality of the squash was excellent throughout but Humberto was unable to stop Lewis notching up another win!

Afterwards there was no need for a trip to Ronaldo MacDonalds with the ever faithful Olleys providing tasty fish & chips. Another fun battle with Bromley, next stop Cannes … Canterbury.
