Report: | BCC Juggernaut Rises To The Occasion.
BCC recorded their 3rd victory on the trot at the impressive home of newly formed Amida.
What a vast improvement it is from the days down at Fitness Exchange (where the majority of players used to play).
4 glass squash courts are surrounded by a swimming pool and rows of exercise bikes and treadmills. A few of the posers down there even come to support the squash.
On with the squash!
Paul vs Big Andy (No 5)
Andy reeling from last weeks 3-2 defeat was looking to make ammends and impress the Gaffer, however he came up against a strong number 5 who was in no mood for sympathy.
Paul raced away with the first two games, Big Andy had no answer to Pauls tight game. A brief fight back in the third, made the scoreline in that game a little more respectable. Nevertheless, Big Andy was left licking his wounds as he suffered a heavy defeat. Hopefully his torn thigh muscle will have healed by next week.
Mike vs Skunk (No 2)
Mike is a newcomer to this league and in his first two outings he has been impressive. Skunk who had been training in Aberdeen over the weekend was looking to continue on from last weeks win.
Skunk looked fit in the first game, and his slow consistent game was getting to Mike. He won a tight first game, before Mike regained the initiative and took the second. Skunk began to get on top with some long rallies, and deep squash and easily took the 3rd.
The game turned in the 4th though. Skunk was gaining the upper hand, but some suspect marking, and lack of confusion in the score ruffled Skunk, and Mike forced a decider.
I didn't see the 5th, but according to my sources, at 5-5 in the 5th, the marker said it was 7-5 to Mike, Skunk was bemused by this mistake and lost focus as Mike took a tight game.
A valiant effort by Skunk, who after that performance has regained his title as 'Dutch Prodigy'
Alex vs King Lewy (No 1)
At 2-0 down, BCC needed to win the remaining rubbers. King Lewy was a gamble at 1, having just got off the plane from Las Vegas. His legs looked weary and he definetly didn't want a hard game. Fortuneatly for King Lewy, Alex was carrying an injury, and didn't put up any resistance. King Lewy won his 3rd match on the trot.
Dan Vs Tony (No 4)
Another one-sided match for One liner, who is proving a very strong number 4. Mr Crash bang wallop stayed in the rallies as long as possible, but one liner just moved him around and gradually wore him down to take the first two games easily.
Another marking error ruffled one liner in the 3rd though. (It was very difficult to hear the markers, so the scoring was done by the players, whilst the awkward decisions were made by the markers.) One Liner believed it was 6-0 to him, but the marker had other ideas. A loss of concentration saw Dan fight back, however One Liner regained his compousre to win 3-0 and force a deciding rubber between the two captains.
Simon Vs Captain (No 3)
What a strange match!!
Over recent matches between these two, Captain had gained the upper hand, but a recent dip in form for Captain would mean a tighter match between the rivals.
Captain began the first well and battled hard to win 9-6. In the 2nd Captain lost all focus, and let his head drop. Simon ran off winner after winner and took the 2nd 9-0. The game had shifted in Amidas' favour. Captain looked demoralised and out of shape. Simon built an 8-2 lead. There were many bad decisions by the markers in most of the games in the evening, but the next one topped the lot. Captain played a wide drive, and managed to clear it at the last second, however Simon called it and it was definetly a stroke, which would have given the game to Simon. The marker had other ideas, and much to the suprise of everyone, (even the watching lifeguards) gave only a let. Captain seized on his moment of good fortune and began to ruffle Simon even more with a battled display.
He took the game 10-8. Still baffled by the decision, Simon capitulated in the 4th, despite Captains' best efforts to lose.
A battling win for Captain which gave BCC the 3rd win of an incredible start to the season.
Nxt week BCC face Cascades, who are proving to be the suprise package of the season.
After the luck BCC received last night, I'm tempted to take a gamble on BCC winning this match aswell.
What Do Ya Reckon King Lewy?
