Report: | BIG WIN FOR BROMLEY BOYS
BCC Recorded a stunning victory over Biggin Hill on Monday night, to put them right back in the title race.
With the big game on Tuesday night, this match was rearranged for Monday night, however neither team showed those Monday Blues.
Student Vs Pretty Boy (No 2)
Pretty Boy has been impressive recently, recording some good wins, and staking a real claim to be Biggin Hill number 1. Student (James) has just finished his first year at uni, and is slowly regaining his fitness, which will aide BCC in their title push.
After much arguing, Captain was forced to mark this match, (No I in team Lewy) and what a ggod match it turned out to be. Student was impressive early on, and built a lead of 7-4, however Pretty Boy began to wear him down. With some determined running, Pretty Boy (Oh I'm not calling him that any more!!) took the 1st 9-7.
The 2nd was a familiar story. Both players were playing tight squash, and some impressive drop shots. But it was Mark who came out on top taking the 2nd 9-7.
Student looked tired in the 3rd, and Mark had found some form. He closed out the 3rd 9-3, and gave Biggin Hill an early lead.
Dutch Prodigy vs Debt Collector (No 3)
For the 2nd week running Captain had the misfortune to miss Dutch Prodigys' match. JT kindly marked this one as Lewy was busy attempting to prove the theory that there is an I in team.
Previous encounters between the two had left the series at 2-1 to Debt Collector, but Dutch Prodigy is on a rich vein of form (unlike his Fantasy Football predictions) and gradually wore Debt Collector down. The 1st two were shared, but Dutch Prodigy won the final 2 games to put the match at 1-1. (Next time I'll watch your game Michel, so I can give a better account of your match for your mums' benefit).
Captain vs Whippet (No 5)
A full strength BCC side meant that Captain was demoted to No 5, a position that he hadn't filled for some 5 years.
After cycling 60miles in the London to Brighton race on Sunday, the last thing Captain needed was a tough opponent.
Simon the 'Whippet' ran everything down and forced Captain into lots of mistakes. He took advantage of Captains' stiffness and made him work extremly hard to earn the first 2 games.
The stiffness had begun to clear up, and Captain built a 5-0 lead in the 3rd. Fatigue began to settle in and Whippet turned the game around taking an 8-6 lead.
One desperate rally at game point saw Captain pick up a remarkable boast. This galvanised Captain and he held on to win 10-8, and give BCC a 2-1 lead.
Cycling 60 miles and then playing a whippet is not condusive to good squash, however it does create 'A Miserable C**T'. Thanks for that pearl of wisdom Debt Collector.
JT vs Big John (No 4)
JT looking to bounce back from last weeks abject performance was up against Big John. An unorthodox player who hits the ball at 200mph.
JT tried to ruffle John in the first by waving his racquet around and standing in awkward places when John was about to serve.
Big John was having none of it and won the 1st and 2nd easily.
JT pulled himself together in the 3rd, and began to play some intelligent squash, he won the game 9-2.
It looked like JT had turned the game around, but as has been the case a lot this season, JT was unable to keep up his concentration, and Big John ran out an easy winner 3-1.
Match all square at 2-2 & 7-7.
Countless times over the past seasons, King Lewy and Gordon have always gone on last with the matches all square, and countless times, these matches have gone the distance.
King Lewy Vs Gordon (No 1)
Everyone was eager to mark this match (seeing as we are all team players), but it was Student who was finally given the nod by the almighty one.
The 1st 3 games went by in a blur. Lewy was awful in the 1st, whilst Gordon was twice as bad in the 2nd and 3rd. He looked uninterested, and played a string of shots into the tin.
Captain was off showering and didn't reckon with Gordons' mini revival.
Captain came back with the match at 8-5 in the 5th to Gordon. Neither player knew that this was the crucial game, howver King Lewy wore Gordon down with some tight drives and got the scores to 8-8.
Gordon set one, the gallery gasped, King Lewy lobbed a serve to Gordons' forehand, Gordon went for a cross court volley nick, the Tin rattled as the ball plummeted down. Pretty Boy groaned in despair, the BCC boys cheered in delight. King Lewy had gone a long way to redeem himself after his marking tantrums.
This crucial win built a cushion back to Biggin Hill in 3rd, something they will surely need when the summer really starts, and all the players are off on holiday.
