Report

Report:Can't let last night's proceedings go without at least a few words. In a never before seen (and likely never again) situation, PL1 have managed to do the double over Dulwich. A pretty good natured and competitive match last night, with a reasonable smattering of viewers alongside the 4th team match, provided a good evening's entertainment.

First on: London jnr v Garner.
Steve looked a bit jaded in this one. Tim produced his usual brand of accurate squash and although the rallies were pretty even for the most part, Tim always looked to be the more consistent as Steve suffered from too many mistakes - notably when a couple of games balls escaped in the 3rd. First blood to Dulwich.

Out on the graveyard court: Culver v Bristow.
Didn't see any of this but my sources tell me it was a bit of a see saw match. Simon started well, taking the 1st before being run all around the four corners by Jim. He obviously managed to steady the ship after taking a beating for 2 games and eventually eked out a good win in 5 games.

Next on: London snr v Petronzio.
The author looking for revenge after a first half drubbing in this one, got off to a tetchy start. Having surrendered the first by serving out, plus a few lame shots at the end, and being seemingly unable to ignore his own mistakes and just get on with it, thankfully things turned around a bit from the 2nd onwards. It wasn't ever pretty from either player, with a 'who can make the most mistakes' competition ensuing. Thankfully, Antonio shaded that one and the author wrapped up a hard fought win.

Back out in the sticks: Pratt v Browsdon.
Another revenge mission here, as Steve sought to reverse one of his few bad performances in recent seasons. I never thought I'd see the day when Steve was (a) Mr Reliable and (b) a banker, but joys of joys, thus it has come to pass. Steve got to grips well with the grippy walls of court 4 and wrapped up a tight 3-0 win.

Last on: Peel snr v Sweeney.
This was probably the match of the night. Nick has been a bit out of sorts in his PL appearances so far, but with the support team weighing in with tips he played a pretty good match. A bit up and down at times, as Paul's crafty accurate boasting in particular proved too challenging, but when hitting hard accurate lengths he played very well. Notable point of the match came as Nick recovered from 4-10 down in the 3rd to win it. The 'I just gave up and relaxed' approach proved to be just the ticket, and whilst he struggled to keep the mental focus necessary to continue in that vein, overall it was good stuff. The favour was somewhat returned in the 4th as Nick relinquished a 9-5 lead to take it to a decider. A tight finish at the death saw Nick sneak it. A sterling performance by both.

The usual affable banter in the bar afterwards with the Dulwich boys. Always a pleasure. A good match.
