Report

Report:The night started out as a serious battle between two teams looking to Seize the Day and wrestle control at the top of the league and ended in a comedy wait for the food.

First on at Club Paradise, aka Dulwich SC, were the Masters taking on Tim & Jim. The matches unfolded in almost unison with both pairs exiting the court after each game at the same time. However, that’s where the similarities ended. Apparently the Flubber ball was red hot on Jim & Brad’s court which suited the youngster who won in three.
Across the way, Josh was once again battling with Tim but not enjoying The Best of Times. The rallies were tight particularly up and down the backhand wall, but a couple of mistakes late in each game gave Tim the initiative and ultimately the match.
Lauren put Dulwich in front as her Happy Feet danced around the court and had Ant in trouble from the off. He battled to the end, but whenever there were any Awakenings of a comeback Lauren closed the door and eventually the match.

Jack & Will played out the battle of the night, and a titanic tussle it was too. Early on it was Good Will Hunting the ball down and jumping to a two game lead. Jack pulled one back, but by Hook and by crook Will managed to get to 10/9 match ball. Sadly for the Dulwich crowd, he could clinch the final point and Jack drew level at 2-2 before stepping on the gas in the 5th.

In the deciding rubber Absolutely Anything could happen, and true to form the fast and furious rallies were pretty evenly split. Shaun edged the first and looked to be heading for victory at 8/3 in the second but Pau clearly had eyes on man of the match if not Man of the Year digging in and pulling level. The third and fourth followed a similar lack of pattern, no Robots here and to the joy of the home support it was Paul who came out top to take the match and the overall tie.

Thereafter the night descended in to comedy farce with the Dominos pizzas from 1.3 miles away taking an age. The Timekeeper had it at about an hour, and by the time it arrived Jim was half-way there to meet the delivery boy and threw his Toys when he finally turned up. Fortunately, the the Bexley crew are a good bunch and saw the funny side, even if it will be morning Maidstone rather than Good Morning Vietnam when they get home.

RIP Robin Williams.
