Report: | The Famous Five of Knole had a jolly time playing with their five new friends from Poultwood.
The evening passed happily by with balls being patted gently back and forth between the strolling players. As, one by one, they lost 3-0 to their guests, each of the merry band of Knole squashies remarked on how nice everything was and how pleasant the weather had been.
Even Chris, who had been feeling a little left out of the party as the older children played their grown-up games, began to puff with pleasure as a glistening stream of crystal clear water trickled down his forehead. Pausing only to enjoy the jolly banter between his great opponent and the genial marker, Chris graciously admitted defeat at the end of a couple of hours of the bestest fun he had had for ages.
Gosh! I’m jolly tired, said everyone. So, the merry band repaired to the dining room, where they enjoyed a super supper and regaled one another will exciting tales of the jolly japes they had had that day and the rest of the sweltering summer.
Then the Famous Five waved goodbye to their new friends and looked forward to their next adventure at Bexley./Jolly John
