Report: | ‘Thank goodness it’s not so hot this week’, said Jolly John to Perky ‘PJ’ on the way to Bexley. ‘Yes, those naughty Bexley pixies always make more mischief when it’s hot’, replied Perky. ‘You’re not wrong, chums,’ piped up Chirpy Chris.
Pete, the biggest Pixie was waiting for the three pals on the Bexley balcony. ‘Let’s swap cards, Pixie Pete’, said Jolly John. ‘What for?’ replied Pete. ‘I haven’t finished changing mine yet’. ‘Cool!’ thought JJ. ‘I hope he lets me see his later when he’s finished rubbing it out.’
So off they all went to get ready for the party, little knowing what excitement was to come.
Jammy Jerry hadn’t had so many doughnuts since the last party and had a lot more fun this time bashing Loose Lee 3-0.
Perky ‘PJ’ brought out his best box of tricks against Twizzle Danny, the spinning boy. He saved his best trick for 7-5 down in the fourth. Summoning up all his magic debating powers, ‘PJ’ managed to talk about a no let for a whole minute, without hesitation or deviation. Twizzle was too young to have seen this trick before and it made him hopping mad. ‘I want to play Tin-Tin now’, he moaned. So he did – five times. ‘You naughty ‘PJ’ ‘, thought Jolly John. But it was too late.
Dave didn’t want Gary to get grumpy. So he won a lot more points than Gary and Gary admitted grumpily that he didn’t know the answer.
‘I really enjoyed that’, thought Dave. I bet it would be even more fun to mark the next match. But Tom Tall and Pixie Pete thought it would be a great idea to have a bit of fun teasing Dave. If they pretended to fight each other, he would never know. And the more they pretended, the more fun they had …
Meanwhile, Tony O, the leaping leprechaun was making a monkey out of Chirpy Chris. Waving his magic boasts, Tony leaped to 9-1 9-1 in the twinkling of an eye. Chris cringed every time he hit a silly shot. What could he do? Chris blew his magic horn as loud as he could. Just in time!
Somewhere, deep in the leprechaun’s groin, a gremlin lurked. It must have heard the horn. At 7-7 in the third, it grabbed part of Tony that even pixie dust couldn’t fix. He hopped helplessly around for one more point, then accepted defeat. ‘Crikey, Chris’, thought his cheery chums. That was a close shave.
TT & PP were still having a pillow fight on the other court. Dave wasn’t having so much fun now. It was getting a bit naughty. ‘You’re a pillow’, said one. ‘No, I’m not’, shouted the other. ‘Make him stop or I’m off!’ TT said to Dave. But he didn’t. So he was.
Some of the younger ones had started to cry and were sent off to change into their pyjamas ready for their bedtime stories.
Halfway out of the playground, TT was ushered back by mighty motivator Perky ‘PJ’. ‘You have to win this one’, he told TT. ‘Or he will win’. ‘Gosh! You’re right’, said TT. Why didn’t I think of that?’ So he did.
Luckily, it all turned out to have been a prank. TT & PP realised that the joke had gone too far and they became best of friends. Even Dave must have seen the funny side when he realised what a clever trick they had played on him.
The older ones were allowed to stay up late and tuck in to a fabulous midnight feast of top tasty tuck. The big boys even had a beer or two. Don’t tell anyone.
