Report

Report:Winter League returns.

With Bromley running late that match kicked off at 20:20 with the 4 and 5 strings.

The 5 string matched was something of a bruising battle with both Pete and Matt looking like they both were struggling with leg injuries. Pete won a lose first game before Matt upped the pace to win the second. The 3rd was a close affair with Matt being in control till about 9-7 when Pete played 4 shots I'm not even he was sure what he knew was trying, to sneak the game. The forth continued with this pattern and even the gallery were unsure where Pete was going to hit the ball next. Fortunately for Matt is was usually onto his racket. Matt took the close 5th game so first blood to Bromley.

I didn't see a rally of this match but I am reliably informed that on the other court James looked like he was in trouble as Johnny raced to a 7-1 lead and afterwards even commented on how he had "James running to which ever corner I wanted". Unfortunately this is where that pattern ended and James took control to take the Game and Match 3-0.

Next up the 1s and 2s. Jason and Lewis started off a a high pace that continued to the end. They both seemed to be moving each other round the court well until Jason would hit a mid court shot and Lewis in his usual style would drop it into the nick. On the other Court Colin and Matt has what can only be described as a highly contested battle. Lots of decisions that were argued (and I wasn't marking so for once it wasn't my fault!) but Neil's fitness took the match in the end as he battled back from 2-1 down to win 3-2.

So with Bromley now having won the tie the 2's went on. Sam usually wins his matches against me 3-0 or 3-1 so a great result for me would be a 3-2 loss. Now I'm not sure why (And Sam will admit this) he really didn't play well, The 6 boast into the tin in the first game proved to show a pattern for the rest of the match. The second was close but I managed to win 3-0. I'm sure that won't happen again.

So with Bromley smashing and grabbing the Curry was consumed and on our way we went.
