Report

Report:Not much to report from last night's encounter between PL1 and Dulwich as I didn't have much chance to watch any of it. PL struggled to make it to their own club in any sort of timely fashion for a variety of reasons (apologies to Tim et al for leaving you to mark as a result)! PL were at an immediate disadvantage due to Steve being unavailable at no.1, so all shuffled up a notch.

Anyway, thankfully it didn't culminate in too late a finish, so not a total disaster.

First on: Pratt v Bristow
Steve was obviously on fire again in this one. An amazing result really, especially since he got soundly beaten last time out by Jim. The onwards and upwards trajectory continues. Another great win to extend the unbeaten record. Team banker.

Next door: London snr v Brownsden
A good hard match this one as the scores indicate. Once again the author struggled to convert early leads, with the 3rd in particular seeing a 9-6 lead disappear and a game ball not converted. Nearly the same again in the 1st and 4th too. In the final game Will came out all guns blazing to take a 6-0 lead. Although the author got some of it back, it was a bridge too far in the end. Nevertheless, a thoroughly enjoyable match.

Next on: Robbins v Garner
Didn't see a ball of this as I was on court. The first two games were pretty close by all accounts, but by the 3rd Tim was a bit more comfortable and did his usual efficient wrap up of the match.

Next on mk2: Peel jnr v Petronzio
Ditto this one. Still on court throughout, so didn't see any of it. Jack won the first but was unable to impose himself enough in subsequent games apparently. No shortage of post match analysis from Dad, but to be fair, Dad's advice would have been better directed at himself! Another good bit of match experience for Jack, who was that keen that he was on again afterwards with one of the Blackheath boys post their match with the 3rd team.

Last on as ever: Peel snr v Briggs
Nick definitely had his chances early on in this one as Lauren looked uncharacteristically slow to get into the match. Sadly, Nick seemed to feel that dollying up nice easy volleys was the tactic to employ. WRONG. Lauren gratefully buried every single one. As the match wore on, things were only heading in one direction - south (for Nick). By the 3rd, all fight had disappeared as hamstring twinges and tiredness took over. An easy finish for Lauren.

A fairly early migration to the bar considering the start (although Steve had got on at the scheduled time -ish) and the author only a few mins after the scheduled time). Mucho internal club politics seemed to be the order of the day for discussion. Not a particularly auspicious way to end a generally successful first half for PL. Now into a lon n g g Xmas break ...
