Report

Report:A short handed Bromley LTC visited PL last night, with captain Gordy appearing to spectate only having climbed off his sick bed.

First up: Pratt v Easton
A fairly routine affair from the first two games that I saw. Steve looking like he had plenty in hand, but Nick nevertheless covering a lot of court and making a good effort, particularly in the first. Despite this, the WW bandwagon rolls on for another week.

Out in the graveyard court 4: London snr v Shaw
This court always used to be the warmest in the club when the outside temp dropped, but it seems that PL's capricious heating policy now extends to blowing a freezing cold gale directly downwards onto the court (except in summer when it's hot)! Anyway, it made length a struggle and that combined with the grippy walls made it challenging. Despite quite a few short rallies as a result, this was a reasonable match, with the author doing just enough in the games to win it.

Back in civilisation: London jnr v Gallard
Didn't see a ball of this due to playing duties, but Steve's brief analysis was that Clinton had "made a few mistakes tonight". Another good win at any rate.

Last on: Peel jnr v Patel
Jack looked well set after a good first game, but a bit too much cross court and just a few too many mistakes saw the 2nd slide away. The 3rd was the clincher with a closely fought battle, and Jack not being able to convert a game ball. By the 4th a succession of mistakes cost him dear, with Ket keeping his head down and rallying it out. Further good match experience for Jack, and things definitely on an upward trend.

With Peel snr there to regale all with his latest injury saga, it was just another quiet night out as everyone slipped away after a pretty early finish.
