Report: | Another nail in Priory's Div 1 coffin really last night as the atmosphere free zone continued. Visitors T.Wells were only able to field 3 players so it was a short night, albeit a fairly late starting one.
First up: Pratt v Evans
Steve was well pleased with this match and with good reason. Once again he made good use of his speed to chase down everything James could throw at him whilst exerting a lot of pressure of his own. A couple of lapses in both of the first two games where big leads disappeared on the back of going for a little too much made the scoreline look tighter than the match actually was. Another good performance wrapped up a 3-0 win.
Next door: Robbins v Powell
Only a bit of peripheral vision allowed me to see any of this. I'm afraid the protagonists had to mark their own match due to shortage of numbers, and JEJ looked to be in control of most of the exchanges as we welcomed him back after a lengthy absence. A routine 3-0 win was completed in fairly short order.
Last and definitely least: London snr v Horseman
There might only have been one of him, but Mike definitely had an apocalyptic effect on the author's game! A really scrappy match with plenty of movement clashes made for uncomfortable playing and no doubt viewing. The author was fairly fortunate to close out both of the first two games and lost the plot entirely in the 3rd. The 4th was something of an improvement after changing rackets to one I could hold, closing out for a 3-1 win.
A bit of a cut down and early chinwag in the bar afterwards, and it was all done for the evening. |
