Report

Report:First on was Sam v Jonny. Five sets and 45 minutes later and Sam emerged the winner. Five sets in 45 minutes for these two was unusual as they both have the fitness to keep the rallies going, but who needs rallies when the nick or the tin are the easier option.

On the next court was Will in his first match back after hip surgery against a 14 year old County player. No change here though, a five setter over an hour and fifteen minutes which was about par for Will before surgery. Exciting squash from Luke who will be a force to be reckoned with in a few years time. But vintage Nicholson saw the five setter through with a 12-10 finish in the fifth. Awesome comeback after hip surgery against a very able junior and some tremendous post match photos of the winner which we will try and post on the website!

Then the match of the evening with Matt against Jolyon and Matt showing us all how to move on a squash court. Jolyon put up a good show staying in long rallies and turning back the clock by a few years even though he went down in three.

Gordon and Paddy finished the match off for Dulwich, though not without some entertaining squash. Gordon against Dean saw Dean diving around the court, not always connecting with the ball but once connecting with Gordon's eye socket as his racket followed through with Gordon running around him unbeknown to Dean, though I wonder what story Gordon will be telling in the pub on Friday night as to how that happened! Paddy v Colin saw ex-England star Payne still pulling off come great shots, whilst providing a critical but thought provoking analysis of the marking and his opponent's technical ability as the game wore on but losing 1-3 ultimately.

An enjoyable night with the lads from Tonbridge or is it Tunbridge and our new sponsors The Dulwich Tandoori providing the post match curry to high acclaim.
