Report

Report:More of the same last night as PL entertained Dulwich 2. Gina missing again due this time to PSL so the author got another crack at no.1.

First up: Kay v Iltchev
Saw the 1st game only which was a close affair, with the difference really being that Alex was a bit loose on the backhand side. Paul looks to have had a tight match but did enough to take it in 3 and is becoming the (only) team banker, despite the elevation to no.4.

Next door: London snr v Harpur
The author seems to be developing an unfortunate pattern of late. Another 8-4 lead getting away in the 1st and despite getting to 10-10 in the 2nd, unable to take it. Even in the 3rd until 6-6 at which point I'm not too sure what happened. I know it ended in spectacularly inept fashion with an air shot volley attempt at match ball, and with the ball then dying, it was an ignominious ending. Nevertheless a good and quite even match despite the score.

Next up: Peel jnr v Barcza
Lloyd looked to be struggling with his movement from fairly early on, but proceeded to drop Jack off the court. A large number of perfectly dead weight backhand drops hit from next to the back wall were just enough to compensate. When Jack can maintain his focus for longer he's going to give someone a few surprises, but as in previous matches, too many lapses of concentration spoiled things. A shame, as at times he played some good stuff. Very tight in both 1st and 4th games.

Next door: Peel snr v Joyce
Didn't really see any of this due to marking but Nick playing throughout in tracksuit bottoms proved the initial suspicion that this was not a good sign. After taking the 1st he was reduced to hobbling around again unfortunately. In need of a break, but we have no players!

Last on: Francis v Nicholson
Brett put in a good shift, stepping in for the day against Will, who seems to be his usual mobile self despite the recent knee op. Lots of running with things hinging on the 3rd where Brett had a decent lead, including a game ball, that he couldn't quite convert. Plenty of earnest endeavour by both.

Once again a pretty competitive match despite the result. Many tight games. None of them seeming to go PL's way.
