Report: | More of the same last night as Canterbury visited PL.
Gina battled hard against Neil, but as previously succumbed to the temptation to go for a little bit too much, too early on occasions. After some advice to be more patient but to attack the ball to a length more, the 2nd was her best game, but in the end Neil had a bit too much and took the 3rd pretty comfortably.
The author had a good run against Tom. Having played abysmally of late this was a huge improvement, but yet again the inability to get over the finish line tripped yours truly up - notably in the 2nd. An enjoyable match nonetheless.
Jack wasn't really at the races in this one. After a good battle between these two last time out, Duane was in no mood to take prisoners, and Jack never really got into it. Jack needs to focus on playing to his strengths - youth and speed, but all too often loses focus and pushes it around too much. In point of fact, Duane's post match analysis of his game, and comments during Gina's exactly matched up with the author's on both counts.
Didn't see much of Paul's game but it looks to have been his usual - great dollops of effort. Very tight in the 2nd and 4th and a bit unlucky not to take it to five, after a 10-7 lead in the 4th got away. Very committed as usual. A good effort.
Simon, on squad rotation in the 2nd team, stood in for the ailing Nick this week and put in a good stint, taking the 1st against Stuart. Just a few mistakes in the other games was all that really separated them. Another good effort.
A good chinwag in the bar afterwards as ever with the Canterbury boys. Not a great final outcome. but an enjoyable match nonetheless. |
