Report

Report:Both teams pitched up with a player or two short of their best teams so it seemed we were heading for close match.

Pedro competed better this week but in the end Chris was too good on the night.

Ian started off slow against Nico then took control in games 2 and 3 only to falter in the 4th and 5th as Nico scampered around the court picking up Ian's shots.

Ben did his usual stuff by frustratingly getting to most of Roald's shots who was struggling a little. Ben was in match position in the 3rd only to see an 8-3 lead pegged back to 8-8 but managed to finish it off to win 3-0.

Olly started off slow against Bruce who took the first quite easily. Olly got back into it in the 2nd and Bruce grew increasingly frustrated especially when the 3rd was close and he let it slip away and the 5th was another clear victory for Olly after a bit of too and fro.

The match result rested on Dave and Calum and we were treated to a great scrap which went one way then the other. Calum took the first with Dave struggling to rid himself of muscle problems from a ball busting circuit training session earlier in the week. Dave changed racket and took the 2nd without dropping a point. Calum fought back and put the pressure straight back onto Dave who could only muster 2 points. The 4th saw Dave doing to Calum what Calum had done to Dave in the previous game so we were all set for a 5th set shoot out for the match. Best game of the match saw it go one way then the other and some great rallies near then end saw Calum scrape through to match point first then Dave levelled at 8-8 but it was Calum who stood firm to take it and the match for Blackheath.

A frustrating night for Dulwich who have now lost 3-2 in 7 matches this season - we could have been contenders!

Dulwich Tandoori turned up an hour early so we sent them away and they duly returned at the requested time and everyone tucked in.

Banter Bants Chat - Calum is scheduled for a circumcision next month and he has put down a deposit on 12 goats and 3 cows!
