This official set of rules will be permanently added to the site in the coming week of so. For now the rules will be stored here for your convenience. LADIES PRIORY SQUASH LEAGUE THE RULES 1. Team Players Teams shall consist of five members from each club which is in membership of the SRA. No member may play for more than one club in the Priory League, in any one season. Six players at least must be nominated for each team at the start of each season, to play in a fixed order of merit, position 6 and below being that of reserve. A list of nominations must be sent to the secretary before the commencement of the first match. Only new players to a club can be added when appropriate to the nominations. A club may only change the composition of its team at the halfway stage, from those previously listed for the second half of the season. 2. Eligibility No player may play in more ties than are scheduled for each team in a division. e.g. 9 team leagues 16 ties 8 team leagues 14 ties etc. All teams must play in order of merit 3. Ties / Matches / Games Ties shall consist of 5 matches, each match the best of 5 games. 4. Fixtures and Start Times a) Matches must be played on the dates quoted in the fixture list, commencing at 19:30pm unless otherwise agreed by the captains of the club involved. If, without reasonable explanation, a team has not at least two member present and ready to play by 8:00pm, it shall be scratched, and similarly, any member not present by 20:30pm, whether required to play at that time or not, shall concede a walkover. If the number 1 player fails to show, the opposition shall be awarded the tie b) If the home team cannot fulfil the fixtures on their own courts on the date laid down in the fixture list, and the away team cannot agree to play on an alternate date, the home team must be prepared to forfeit their home fixture and play the match on their opposition's courts and meet all expenses. c) If the away team cancel at less than 1 weeks notice they must be prepared to forfeit the match and to meet all the expenses incurred by the home team. Likewise, if the home team cancel at a late date, they must also forfeit the match. d) The secretary must be notified of any rearranged ties in writing. Failure to do so will result in 0 points for both teams. 5. League System The competition shall be played on the American system (1v1, 2v2, etc.) as a league, split into divisions. At the end of each season the bottom two teams in each division shall be relegated, and the top two teams shall be promoted. The committee, however shall reserve the right to make any adjustments necessary, in order to facilitate the organisation of the league. Vacancies caused by any club ceasing to compete, and consequent vacancies if any, shall be filled at the discretion of the committee, provided that promotions gained under Rule 5 are not disturbed. 6. Rules of Play Rules of play shall be those laid down by the World Squash federation and the balls shall be a new S.R.A. standard ball, as selected by the by the HOME club. 7. League Points One point shall be scored as a result of each individual game and, in addition, a further five points shall accrue to a winning side. If a team has been given a walkover 15 points only will be awarded. The result of the competition shall be decided on the total points scored, but in the event of a draw between two or more clubs, the order of precedence shall be decided by the percentage of the individual games won to the individual games played, during the season. 8. Referees and Markers Markers are essential. At least three home team members must be available for marking, using away team members only when absolutely necessary. When referees are required they should be taken from the opposing team. At least one member of each team should have attended a recent official marking and refereeing course. 10. League Results The HOME club only shall send in the results of each tie showing the names of all the players and details of each contest. Results must be sent within one week after the match, failure to do so may result in the away team being awarded maximum points. 11. Meals It is recommended that a good quality meal be provided by the home team and adequate refreshments (at least 2 drinks) should be provided.. 12. Disputes All disputes shall be submitted in writing to the Priory Squash League Committee, whose decision shall be final. 13. An entry fee of £20 per season to be paid by each participating team, and to be sent to the secretary before the start of the season. It would be appreciated if the closing date for entries is adhered to. LADIES WINTER PRIORY LEAGUE 2005/06 GUIDELINE FOR CAPTAINS READ AND ABSORB THE COMPETITION RULES. IGNORANCE OF THE RULES IS NO DEFENCE IN SETTLING A DISPUTE. HOME CAPTAIN Always confirm your match with the opposition at least a week before, to avoid a misunderstanding. Make sure the opposing team captain knows what time your matches start and where your club is. Ensure there is adequate court time available, as, unless due to the late arrival of the away team, the home team will always be penalised if there is insufficient court time. Remember you are responsible for providing suitable refreshments for the opposing team. (see rule 11). Be sure to have marking pads /paper and pens available as the marking is the home teams responsibility. In the event of a dispute, talk it over with the opposing captain and if you cannot reach an agreement, put your case in writing to the secretary before the next match. VISITING CAPTAIN Confirm the matches with the opposition at least a week before to avoid misunderstanding. Know what time the matches start, and where the club is. Ensure that your players are at the venue and ready to play on time. If you are late change as quickly as possible. If any of your team are going to be late, inform the opposing team captain beforehand. Teams will be penalised for late arrival according to Rule 4. Remember that the home team make great effort to provide a meal, therefore on the rare occasion any of your team is unable to stay, let the home captain know as far in advance as possible. Also, if there are any special diets. If there is a request for a referee, one of your team must be able to do so. Be sure that the match card is correct before signing it.
