Kent Squash Superleague
The Kent Squash Superleague (KSS) for the Colin Evans Trophy is organised, by KSS committee, under the umbrella of Kent SRA., for club teams on a countywide basis.
The aim of KSS is to be the pinnacle of Kent Squash by: -
1. Encouraging more clubs to participate, up to a maximum of 10.
2. To make the league more exciting for players and spectators.
3. To have an end of season presentation night.
4. To encourage clubs to internally advertise the league.
5. To produce regular results table and player rankings.
6. Improve media awareness of Kent Squash.
RULES
1. TEAM PLAYERS
Teams representing clubs shall consist of FOUR players all of whom shall be members of that club.
NOTE: All players participate at their own risk and the Kent SRA shall not be responsible for injury or decisions made by the match referee/marker.
No player may play for more than one club in any one season in the KSS. However, players competing in the KSS may play for that or other club in the regional sections of the Kent League during the season, subject to the Regional League rules.
Teams shall be played in order of merit.
A player shall be eligible to represent his/her club provided he/she is in membership of the club on 1st September, of the current season, or is in membership for at least 21 days prior to playing for the club.
No player may play in the final four ties of the season unless previously representing that Club in at least four ties in the KSS during that season or representing that Club in another Kent league.
2. NOMINATION OF PLAYERS
Each season, every team shall nominate at least FOUR players and up to SIX, in order of merit, to the Fixtures Executive, on the form provided.
Each team will be able to re-nominate at the half way stage. Any un-nominated players must play below nominated players. If a new player joins the club, that club must apply to re-nominate including the new player, this will result in the lowest ranked player dropping off the list. A minimum of 2 matches must pass between nomination and availability of the new player. No player will be allowed to move up or down more than one position above or below the next ranked player in their team.
In the case of a second team participating in the KSS, the teams must be run as separate entities and players must play for their nominated team.
Nominations are to be forwarded to the Fixtures Executive a minimum of one week prior to the commencement of the league. Failure to do so may result in a £10.00 fine.
3. TIES / MATCHES / GAMES
Ties between team shall consist of FOUR matches; each match shall be the best of FIVE games.
4. LEAGUE FIXTURES and START TIMES
Ties shall be played on THURSDAYS, unless the Committee gives special authorisation. The first matches of the KSS will be take place on second Thursday of October and run on consecutive Thursday’s, any re-arranged matches must be complete by third Thursday in December of that year. The second half of the season will begin on second Thursday of January and run on consecutive Thursday’s, any re-arranged matches must be complete by the end of March. The end of season presentation night will be the first Thursday of April.
All ties shall begin at the times agreed when the fixture is confirmed. (Normally 2000 hours)
Captains shall notify their opponents of the team order before commencement of the tie.
All players in both teams shall be ready to play at the agreed start time. However, ONE player per team shall be permitted to arrive after the agreed start time PROVIDED the opposing captain has been notified before 12 noon on the day on which the match is to be played. The late arrival shall NEVER be after 20.30 hours.
If any player in a team (other than the one notified above) has NOT arrived by the agreed start time, he/she shall concede a walkover to the opponent. In addition, the team shall forfeit all matches below the playing position concerned.
In the event of the whole team failing to arrive at the agreed venue, the KSS committee shall have power to DEDUCT a maximum of SEVEN points from the team concerned.
Any team failing to provide FOUR players for any tie shall have TWO PENALTY POINTS deducted from that tie’s total. If the team failed to score at least two points in the tie, the two penalty points will be deducted from their season’s running points total.
5. RULES OF PLAY and BALL
The rules of play shall be those laid down by the World Squash Federation and the ball shall be approved by England Squash and selected by the home club.

The scoring system to be used is point a rally scoring to 15. If 14 all is reached, the player who reaches 14 first has the choice of playing to 15 or 17. ie sets 1 or 3.
6. LEAGUE SYSTEM
All teams shall play each other on a home and away basis
7. LEAGUE POINTS
ONE POINT shall be awarded for each GAME won. In the event of a team conceding a fixture, the winning team shall receive TWELVE POINTS and the conceding team NIL POINTS.
The result of the competition shall be determined by the highest total of POINTS scored.
In the event of two or more teams finishing level on points, the order of precedence shall be decided on the result of the ties between them and if still equal the result of the matches between them and if still equal the result of the games between them and if still equal the result of the first strings matches.
8. PLAYER of the MATCH
At each match a player will be awarded the player of the match, this should be a mutual decision made by the two team captains. This could be awarded mutually by the teams and could be for an act of sporting prowess, gentlemanly conduct or for any other reason. There will be an award for the player with the most player of the match awards, which will be presented at the end of season presentation night.
9. REFEREES and MARKERS
The refereeing and marking of matches is to be shared by the teams. The home team should organise score sheets and pens.
10. LEAGUE RESULTS
Both clubs shall e-mail, (within 24 hours of each tie) showing the players’ names and scores of each game and the name of the Player of the Match. Updates will be provided by email and on http://kent-squash.countyleagues.co.uk/.
11. DISPUTES
All disputes shall be submitted, in writing, to the Fixtures Executive who will bring this to the attention of the KSS committee whose decision thereon shall be final. Although the decision shall be open to appeal to the Kent SRA Management Committee.
12. ENTRY FEES and PRIZES
The Entry Fee shall be £25 per team of which £10 shall be rebated to the Kent SRA in the form of a levy. The fee, together with the ENTRY FORM, shall be submitted in accordance with the details on the form.
A perpetual trophy shall be awarded to the League Champions and it is their responsibility to pass it to the next following champions, as instructed by the KSS Fixtures Executive.
The trophy shall be fully engraved by the winning club. FIVE Kent SRA crested mementoes will be awarded to the winning League club plus a plaque.
13. END of SEASON PRESENTATION NIGHT
It is planned that this will be a squash based social event where all the players can come together to celebrate the year’s squash and to congratulate the champions.
There will be a presentation of the trophy to the champions and to the leagues player of the season. Additionally, there will be a playoff between the of the best 2 Number 1’s, the best 2 Number 2’s, the best 2 Number 3’s and the best 2 Number 4’s to establish the best player at each position in the league. A minimum of 2 players from each team will be expected to attend the presentation night, failure to do so may result in a £10.00 fine.
NOTES:
MATCH MEALS. (Guidelines) The AWAY team to advise the hosting club if less than its FOUR players require a meal. This advice is to be given at least 48 hours in advance. Any HOST club having difficulty in providing a meal, to advise the visiting clubs PRIOR to the start of the season. The majority of competing clubs hope that the social aspect, including provision of meals, will continue.
GENERAL MEETINGS
Clubs are permitted to send one or two representatives to the Meeting but they shall only have ONE VOTE per club.
A General Meeting will be held in between the end of one season and the beginning of another all team captains and clubs will be given a minimum of 14 days notice.
DEFINITIONS:
TIES are between opposing teams.
MATCHES are between individual players.
Kent SRA is the Kent Squash and Racketball Association
England Squash is the governing body of the sports of Squash and Racketball.
