Report

Report: What an opener - could have gone either way. First up, the captains!!! Match swayed back and forth with Mark (I can get everything back) chasing everything down and Ali (where do I put the ball)? Mark took a 2-1 lead before Ali seemed to get on top and ran out a 3-2 winner. Meanwhile, Ben got off to a good start hitting winners off Keeley's loose returns - however, Keeley got her rhythm back and took the initiative and the match 3-0. Next on debutant Nick who has not played team squash for years, which showed in the first game with Elliott in full control and taking the first 9-1 (Nick was thinking of retiring once again)! However, the old Nick re-emerged with flicks and deception and the following games while close, saw Nick win 3-1. Next debutant, Eamo!! playing another debutant Tom. A match of unusual shots - Mark with his push jabs into the nick and Tom changing hands continually. Tom took the first 9-5, Mark ralleied back in the second only to loose 10-8. Tom won the 3rd, 9-0. Mark, when asked what happened "Tom's change of hands had made him dizzy and Mark decided the bar was calling" Final mathc, Steve and Nick - the match went on and on and on. Steve putting winners away, Nick getting everything back with a mixture of good forehand drops. Nick won the 4th, 9-2 and looked to be heading for victory while Steve looked tired out! Not to be, Steve rallied forth, got those little legs running and won 9-5 in the 5th. A sporting and enjoyable evening - thanks.
