Report

Report: What a night it was, it really was, what a night!!! First up Roger and Dan. First game Dan won comfortably, Roger forgot to move. Roger found his legs and won the second game comfortably. From then on, we had a proper match, with initiative going back and forth. Finally, the boasts and accurate lengths from Roger won over the running of Dan. (Dan also had to rush off and do his marking)!! Then the number 1's. First game good quality squash, contested rallies, but Danny capitalized on some of Keeley's loose shots and played some good winning shots. The second game started competitively, but Keeley started to move Dan around with much better width and depth to her shots and took the second game. The 3rd and 4th games followed a similar pattern - some good squash, competitive rallies, but more speed and consistency from Keeley got the better of Danny and some of his outrageous winners (not percentage Danny)!!! Captain Alastair and Sam next. Nothing to report!!! Oh well - I suppose I must - Ali took the first game comfortably, forcing Sam into the corners and keeping Sam off balance. Second game was similar but Ali's legs didn't want to move. Sam got back in the game and did some good winners with unorthodox shots which would injure most peoples wrists and arms! Ali tried to win points with 2 shot rallies but wasn't going to happen against Duracell Sam - Ali retired gracefully - 3-2 to Sam. Meanwhile on the other court, another 4th team player, Nick retired when 2-0 down having made worse his ham string injury and complaining of a "pain in the butt" - I thought that was a bit hard on John, his opponent, who improves every week, with his movement and drops and volleys. So - 2-2- and "Man on Fire" v Red Wine - better know as Steve and Kevin. Kevin played well and is making himself harder to beat each week - despite his barrel type upper body he moves round the court well and hits some good lengths and drops. However, to no avail, Steve at 2 is almost awesome - quick on the ball - accurate volleys and drops and consistent winners - 3-0 to Steve and the 4th team winners. Well, that continued as the bar bill was the highest recorded in any home priory match - an inquest was held - Keeley owned up to a few Vodkas (Kevin referred to Keeley as Smirnoff) - however, in an attempt to drown his sorrows, and to push the share price up for Estrella's, Danny managed to drink a gallon, couldn't remember drinking more than a pint and a half and was heard to say, I knew I would win something tonight!!!He also missed his bus!!
