| Report: | The tensely anticipated Bexley Derby was won by Team 6, 4-1. The evening got off to a good start for Team 5, with Steve Spring demolishing Team 6 captain Adam Willis 3-0. Adam explained that this was an heroic act of self sacrifice on his part, laying down his own match in order to inspire his team to avenge his tragic loss. Unfortunately it worked. Team 6 levelled the match when Gurkhan muscled his way to a 3-1 victory over Meir and went ahead when Rob beat Team 5 captain Gareth 3-1 in a hard fought match that lasted well over an hour. The victory was wrapped up for Team 5 when Anthony recovered from a game down to defeat Vic 3-1 and the highest quality match of the evening was reserved for the two No.1s, where Lilly played superbly to win a tight match against Luke by 3-1. Team 6's captain enjoyed singing "Champions! Champions!" for the rest of the evening, but that's fair enough - we'll get you next time...... |
