Report

Report: Well here it was...... El Clasico part duex !

Bromley CC 3rd team hosting Bromley CC 4th at the Theatre of Dreams on Plaistow Lane for the return leg of this seasons summer league.

Sadly the club legend Ali Mac was away on holiday this week which upset everyone. However we all know how happy he is when on he's naturist holidays so the sadness was short lived.

1st on court was the number 1 seeds Daniel Sweeney and Keeley Johnson.
From the 1st point it was pure quality to watch with both players executing technique of the highest level.
Keeley was a woman possessed though and was almost perfection personified on a squash court.
She was so accurate with her shots and retrieved pretty much everything Dan threw at her that there was only going to be one winner tonight.
A 3-0 win to Keeley and thoroughly deserved.

On the other court at the same time was Ross Beaumont and Danny Williams.
I didn't see this game as I was expertly marking the number 1 seed's game on the other court, however I hear that Danny was too good on the night, moving around the court like a Russian Athlete on performance enhancing drugs. Good win Danny.

Next up we had Sam Warnett vs Nick Barnes. Fitness vs craft !
This was a 5 game thriller with both players dominating at certain times. Nick was pulling out shots that had the packed gallery (1 person) applauding with sheer delight.
Warnett was not giving up though and dug deep to win this epic encounter 3-2.

At the same time Kevin Gimenez was facing the classy Steve Pusey.
3-0 to Steve in the 1st meeting of the season and it looked like it would be a cruising 3-0 win for Steve again as he went 6-0 up in the 1st.
However, after being crowned a daddy for the 2nd time on Sunday morning just gone, Kev dug deep and thought "what if Leo (he's newborn son) was watching?".......... and the shots came out. The fake drive drop, the back hand volley nick..... 10-9 to Kev !

The next game Gimenez was a man full of confidence and before we knew it he was 6-0 up !
Then baby fatigue kicked in and Steve pounced to take the game 7-9 and bring it back to 1-1.
Steve turned on the style in the next game and took it 2-9 before wrapping up the match 4-9 in the 4th. 1-3 to Steve. Well done Steve.

Last on was Paul Roberts and Mark "Emo" Eames.
After some mega rallies Paul took the 1st game 9-7 and then the 2nd 9-4.
Mark however was whooping and celebrating he's moments of brilliance whilst mainly just winning he's serve back.

He's late 1st wife Amira from Syria always loved it when he whooped, but the whooping ended as Paul dispatched Emo 9-2 in the last to take the match 3-0.

A healthy bar bill and a laugh had by all.

Top night of Squash.
