Report

Report:Top of the table clash1 First on Scott v Chris the chef, - match delayed while Chris warmed himself and the ball up on the court !! Play commenced. Scott was on fire - pushing Chris to all corners of the court, forcing errors and pacey winners. Chris full of running kept it competitive with Scott always having the last word. Chris rallied back in the 5th - good retrieving some more accurate shots and game more competitive, but the pace and accuracy from Scott saw him win 3-0. Meanwhile, Richard v new boy Hick (ex county U15) - I was marking so didn't see much of the game and by the score neither did Richard - unlucky to come up against such a good player. Match 1-1. On goes Steve v Ahdrei. Steve "On it" - forehand volleys, delayed boasts, hard cross courts, 9-0. Second game a complete turn around - Ahdrei chasing balls down, backhand volley winners, Steve under pressure and game goes to 8-8, only for Steve to hit 2 customary outright winners. Steve kept the same momentum into the third and another player in good form taking it 9-0. Keeley in the usual long rallies with, "I'll run everything down Paul - very competitive game but Keeley's accuracy and speed to the ball kept on top and took first 9/5. Second game could have gone either way but Keeley kept it tight and forced Paul into errors and won 10/8. Keeley took charge in the 3rd, going 8-4 up, which seemed to stir Paul up, who hit some good forehand winners, forced Keeley into mistakes and had every chance at 7-7, but again Keeley pulled off some wonder shots to win 9-7. Finally, craft Stewart against competitive and I like hitting everything as hard as I can Ashley. Some quite long rallies but Stewarts control, delayed boast and accurate lengths kept Ashley running and making errors. Match continued in the same way, except Ashley got better at hitting the tin, especially when in winning positions and Stewart wins 3-0. Matches were more competitive than the scores show, but Bromley "on It" and Blackheath slightly off the pace. Bromley need the points as the super stars are due to be away working and holidaying. Good meal enjoyed by all. -
