Report

Report:the winning run continues as we battle to catch dulwich at the top of the table. So we welcomed the knole park boys who like us were also short but both teams battled hard and even Jon turned out to play in what must be his 100 season lol. As it stood the Bexley boys did enough at 3,4,5 but the match of the night was at number 1 with both given it there all well played knole park good luck for the future too

Away Report

Away Report:Same old Knole. If it’s Tuesday it must be sick-note time. On this occasion, trusty Will was the dispenser ‘looking like death’ to his imminent missus an hour before kick off.
Bexley were also a man short of a full A-team. So stato’s prediction of 2-3 did not need to be amended.

David started cautiously – and for the most of the first game, his opponent was flattered to be matching David and even edging ahead. But Paul managed to squander game ball and then a series of rather careless errors let David run through to win it. Thereafter, it seems that Paul’s interest in competing diminished and David ran out a fairly comfortable winner 3-0.

Tim, meanwhile was showing good form – especially down the side walls – hitting cleanly. However, when the ball strayed towards the middle, both players found it hard to dance safely around each other, and many unnecessary interferences and collisions occurred. Tim couldn’t capitalize on the frustration of Paul, and eventually the higher ranked player prevailed 0-3.

John followed against the friendly oppo captain Dean. Dean showed a reasonable amount of respect early on for the venerable sub, in spite of John reminding him that he had played his father Leon thirty years ago. A few lucky tricksy winners from John in the first game made the score respectable, but the following two were over in a flash. It appears that the legend of Bexley is past it this year (Nanu was on the premises but declined to watch). Bexley win 0-3.

Mike gave Ross a good run around for four games and was probably unlucky not to take it to 5. Ross has been in good form lately and his only fault is perhaps his rather carefree and laid-back demeanour. He can turn on the skill and speed when he chooses too, though. And it may have been this that made the difference. 1-3 loss.

James had the game of the night (in terms of ding-dong closeness at least). With Floyd spending a lot of prep time on his GoPro set up beforehand, one could assume that he was taking his game seriously. Or perhaps he just didn’t trust his marker. James raced through the first 9-0 with Floyd appearing to have no answers to James’s hard volley nicks and tight drops and drives. The author stepped away to watch (and mark) a closer match – only to find that Floyd had found his touch and was turning the tables on James. His ability to retrieve and put back into play almost anything that James could throw at him was beginning to annoy James. Is seemed, for a while, that only the best of drive nicks would win a point for the visitor. At two-all, both players seemed tired – Floyd more so than James. But then it was Floyd doing most of the court coverage. A few close decisions and the odd bit of good fortune allowed James to sneak the fifth at the death. But either result would have been fair andmost of the marking queries were cleared up afterwards in good humour. Consolation 3-2 win for James – and good points in the relegation war chest.
