Report

Report: A very cold night at the lane tonight as BCC2 welcomes Bexley park. BCC2 were a couple of players down to injury so had to call on the ever helpful 3rd team

1st upScott and Keith. Ex team mate scott knew that this was going to be a tricky game. Scott got off to a good start with Keith making in expected errors. Keith woke up in the 2nd and took it quite easily. The 3rd was much the same as the 2nd and Scott was getting frustrated. 2-1 BP. After a bit of mindfulness training from matt Scott went on for the forth with a different attitude and took it. 2-2. Unfortunately the mindfulness only lasted 1 game and Scott went back to being a 15year old junior losing his temper. Combine that with some Micheal Jackson snake hips drop shots from Keith. The senior Hubbard took the 5th. 1-0 BP

Ian vs Matt.
Matt got off to a flyer catching Ian cold (-4 infact) hitting good clean lengths forcing Ian to make mistakes and took the 1st 9-2. Ian ‘the machine’wasnt going to take a whooping and started to work a tight length (ohh-er who doesn’t like a tight length ). Making matt do a lot more running and took the 2nd. Matt must have know he was in a battle. Ian was relentless in the 3rd playing his fast tempo squash and retrieving everything thrown at him by matt. 2-1. More of the same from the machine in the forth. And taking his opportunities when matt left one loose. Well played by Ian after a shaky start. 3-1 BCC

Stuart vs Andy
Stu has been in good form of late and got off to a good start. One he realised that the deep backhand was the place to put the ball taking the 1st 9-6. The 2nd was much of the same Stu hitting great length and having Andy Running from side to side setting Stu up for the kill.

Matt vs Craig. The hard hitting Craig against the touch and feel of matt should have made for an interesting contest if Craig had remembered to put his squash brain in before He left home. He didn’t have his best night hitting hard but matt was on fire. Craig hit a ball sooooo hard the plaster nearly came on the front wall, but matt hit a top spin cross court drop. I think Craig was still following through from his previous shot. With his Dad Keith saying that craig wasn’t having his best night (“he playing shit”) matt won before Stu and Andy Had finished.
Stu and Andy Stu had the third game hiccup and Andy Came out hitting a better length and very good boasts. Andy Pulled a game back. Stuart got his head together in the forth and he got to 7-4 when disaster. Stu did fullsplits into the front forehand getting so low he got a friction burn on to the back of his leg. In doing so he pulled his hammy. Andy Then came back at the immobile Stu and the match was tied at 2-2. The 5th was the same. Stu couldn’t move and Andy Knew it. He made him hobble from front to back and took the 5th 9-5.

With the match tied at 2-2 it was down to the captains. Frazier had taken the 1st half match 3-0 only dropping 5 points. Andy had been doing extra training and had actually stripped a whole 3mm off his waste line. This was a match of lots of points but very few rallies. Both players wanting to kill the ball asap. Andy got off to a flyer getting 8-1 up. Frazier then got a feel for the very cold court but it was too late to build a come back and Andy took the 1st. Frazier got off to a better start in the 2nd getting his nose in front but as every one “nose” BCC have their own Barry Manalow look a like and he dug deep and got his nose in front and took the 2nd 9-6. Could an upset be on the cards. Could captain fantastic pull off an unlikely victory. Frazier was a man possessed in the 3rd he wasn’t going to go down without a fight. He found a ninja style boast which Andy couldn’t rest and couldn’t get. Friazer taking the 3rd 9-3. Andy starting to look a little tired dug deep and fought for every point in the forth and it was extremely close to 6-6. Then there was a very long rally which Frazier had Braxton running court lengths and it took Andy’s last bit of energy and 3 quick mistakes tied the match. 5 the and final game. 10:30pm. With the bar empty the two players started and it was Frazier who took a commanding 6-1 lead. Still not giving up Andy got it back to 4-6 then the shot of the night. A BH cross court from Andy took an awkward bounce from the back corner, and ramy ashor esq Frazier hit a cross court through his legs. Braxton payed a crosscourt back to Frazier and a crisp volley drop ended the rally. A few more points were won but Frazier came through the victor. Great close match with BCC securing a div 3 place. Well done Bexley park.
