Report

Report:Tunbridge Wells the visitors to the Theatre of Dreams this week as Bromley looked to get back to winning ways.

1st match on was Giles vs Becky.

The 1st game a very tight affair with plenty of hand outs. Giles edging it out though 9-7.

Becky fought back hard and covered the court very well to take the next on the tie break 8-10.

Moment of the match came in the 3rd during an epic rally Becky retrieved a hard tight ball back to the front and as she lay on the floor in the splits position all Giles had to do was finish the ball off and the point was his. Well they call him the Tin Man for a reason. Tin well and truly hit. Point to Becky.

Giles however tightened up and finished too strong and took the 3rd and 4th game to seal a 3-1 win for Bromley.

Well done to both. A game played in great spirit.

Up on court 3 at the same time was the veteran Stuart vs the youngster Will.

Didn't see much as was marking the other game but from what I see Will has a great future ahead of him in the game. Covered the court really well but in the end the experience and shot selections of Stuart proved too much for Will.

Stuart with a 3-1 win and Bromley with a 2-0 lead.

Next match saw myself Kev face up against Thomas. A very enjoyable game to play in and in the end the inexperience of Tom was the major factor.

3-0 to Myself and 3-0 to Bromley with a guaranteed win on the night for Bromley.

Sam vs Leo up next on the other court and as playing I only got to see the last part of the game.

Sam his usual self covering every inch of squash court and retrieving shots many wouldn't.

Pretty tight affair this but Sam winning out 3-1 to take Bromley to a 4-0 lead.

Finally we had the number 1 seeds and trying to get Bromley the 5-0 was Tony. Trying to stop the 5-0 defeat was Richard.

The 1st game saw Tony win convincingly 9-1 and it looked like plain sailing.

As we all started thinking dinner would be soon Richard dug deep and battled hard in the 2nd. Hand outs back and forth and some long rallies with absolutely beast like hitting from Richard, we were locked in at 8-8.
Richard took it to 9-8 and then on game ball Tony walked in to Richards rather large swing. Stroke to Richard however and 1-1.

Tony changed tactic (and his shirt) and came out very determined. Despite the ferocious hitting of Richard, Tony slowed it down to his preferred pace and with his accurate hitting took the next 2 games 9-3 and 9-5 to get the win 3-1 for himself and 5-0 for the team.

A nice chilli con carne after and pleasant waffle after rounding off a nice night of sqaush had by all.

See you in the return leg Tunbridge :-)
