| Report: | Birthday boy Darius (now man, 18 today) kicked off with a cracking match with Gary who totally dictated the first game. Then Darius mixed in some nice boasts and a few drops to put increasing pressure on Gary whose otherwise excellent fitness was severely tested. Meanwhile Tim and Nick were battling away in a tight match that I mostly missed. Unfortunately for Bromley Nick clinched the crucial points. Garth and John had a great battle, Garth playing his best match since returning from a long lay-off. The first game left John bemused but he found a way back through a combination of guile and superior fitness. Undoubtedly the match of the evening. Chris and Paul didn't waste much time, Chris a bit match rusty and Paul as wily as ever. Brian and Brad, on last, had an amusing match. Both were hitting the ball well but few on the balcony could predict where it would go next. Brian was unlucky not to win at least a game. So a good win for Warlingham. Thank you to the supporters of both teams for adding to the enjoyment of the evening. |
