Report

Report: BCC3 welcomes Wells squash to the lane. BCC were a man down due to their ever reliable, if not late, mr twat (aka Stuart Gotts) putting watching squash ahead of playing for the team. Who would miss their last home game.

Steve vs Mike. Steve is unbeaten this season at home with only one defeat away. The game got off to an even start but steve, with his ever attacking style took 5 quick points to take the game. 2nd game Steve again was on fire only dropping 2 points 2-0. The 3rd was a little tougher but with the wealth of experience steve took it 9-4.

Keeley vs Gorden. Our very own England captain is a very focused lady at the moment and Gorden was in for a tough night. Not only on the court but she would undoubtably try and sell him some hearbal life pills. The 1st keels got off to a flyer bottling some beautiful drop shots. Gorden battled back to salvage some points but keels wasn’t going to let it slip. 1-0. Keels magic potion was working wonders. Full of energy, seeing the ball very early she flew through the 2nd 9-1. Complacency might have had its part in the 3rd but there was also the dogged determination of a Scottish man who wasn’t gonna go down to this “wee lassie” without a fight. And he raced to a 6-3 lead. There was a couple of long rallies and keels touch evaded her and Gorden clawed a game back. Keels must of had some more Hearbal life potion (any one wanting hearbal life products please contact Keeley Johnson at the club) as she took an early 7-1 lead. Gorden battled hard and pulled back to 4-7 but keels was to close out the match. 3-1

Dan vs david. Danny, undefeated this season wanted to keep his record in tact. And started the 1st like a man possessed (or on hearbal life which is available through Keeley Johnson) taking a 7-0 lead. David found his length and pulled a few points back, but Danny took the 1st 9-4. The 2nd saw Danny’s other other side. We call him the show Boat. The shots look great when they come off but can get him in trouble. Getting to 7-3 with good squash Danny switched off and David clawed back to 7-7. Danny then went back to playing good squash and took the last 2 points. The 3rd we didn’t see as much of the show Boat and good hard squash saw Danny take the 3rd.

Scott vs Steve. Down on court time all I wanted was not to play someone who runs and gets everything. ‘Oh bugger’. Plus Steve was another one who had got inspiration by watching the squash at Canary Wharf (but not when he had a team game Stuart!!!). I got off to a good start getting to 6-1 but Steve chased every ball and when I played loose shots the backhand volley drop is a shot most would find hard to get back let alone little fat me. Maybe I should get some hearbal life...... hmm wonder where you get that from. Steve came back to 7-7. I couldn’t let the 1st go and 2 quick points gave me the 1st. The 2nd I again made a good start getting to 5-1, but steve would not give up. We had some great rallies normally ending in a game of reaction shots at the front, which if I’m honest looked like two men swatting flies and Steve coming off the better fly swatter. With the game tied at 9-9 I got lucky to get the serve and after a loose return I shut my eyes and hit a BH cross court as hard as I could which just done the trick. I was praying Steve’s legs might go in the 3rd but I was wrong. Still full of running he ran round like a man on a hearbal supplement. Unfortunaly his shots became loose and I was to put the ball away and take the 3rd 9-4

Nick vs Richard.
Our new guy Nick is probably nominated a little low. I hadn’t seen him play but heard that he hit a good ball and was down on court time. Richard was made to run from corner to corner with Nick hitting hard lengths and deceptive reverse angles. Nick giving the 1st and only baygal of the night. The 2nd and thirds were much the same with Richard the far stronger player taking the match 3-0.

A good night had by all and especially for BCC who now are only 10 points away from winning the league.
