| Report: | A weakened Brom CC were unlucky to turn up against a near full strength Beck CC which was always going to be tough. An old cliche but the scores didn't do some of the games and matches justice.
Faizan was fortunate to take the first and fourth in a very entertaining game with Rich but ultimately had the legs at the crucial points in each game (and the odd bit of outrageous luck).
Pat and Danny were both running around like madmen to the point Pat didn't realise he'd won 3-0 rather than 3-1. A few too many errors in the early part of the match from Danny left him too much to do to claw it back.
Max took an almighty pasting from coach Rae post match despite winning in 3(!), but Dan still has all the racket skills if not the fitness against a 14 year old (who does?!). Some lovely shot making from both.
The 4's was much much tougher than the scoreline suggests, Vinay has a thunderbolt of a forehand and some great winners, just a few too many mistakes at key times let me get clear in each game and play some percentage squash for once.
Saw none of Cathy vs Kevin but Cath won't lose many at 5 and by all accounts stopped Kevin playing his natural game enough to take a comfortable win. |
