| Report: | The strongest ever Old Wilsonian's team took the short trip to Bromley CC for another night of hot sweaty squash.
1st up we had the number one seeds and the usual Bromley Number 1 Tony Davies was out injured so Ross the Postman Beaumont stepped in to face the Egyptian wizard Hany Taleb.
It looked like the Postman could deliver his usual win but this time at number 1 it was a bit more difficult.
Ross took the 1st for Hany to reply. Then after a gruelling 3rd where Ross won on a tiebreak Hany then levelled it up 2-2.
In the decider Hany started pulling out some outrageous winners and despite the efforts of the valiant Ross, Hany took the match 3-2. Well played Ross and Hany.
Ali vs Dave on the next court and it was a pretty quick affair. The Bromley Legend Ali stepping in to help the team was giving up around 40+ years in age and Dave is known as the white Mo Farah so was always going to be tough. 3-0 Dave.
2 more quick matches as the next Vetran of the team coming in Paul Roberts played Nick Thompson. 3-0 to Nick. Didn't see any of this but Nick too strong.
Myself vs Luis F Banon who was making his debut for Old Wils after a big money transfer across Bromley from the Lawn.
1st game saw loads of hand outs but I managed to get to game ball in the 1st. Luis though got it back to 8-8 and called set 2. He won them 2, and then the next 9 and then the next 9 with only 1 point for my reply. 3-0 Luis.
Last up was Sam Warnett vs Gerald Tredinnick. This game I only caught the end but a very quick paced game saw them get to 1-1. Sam though is getting better and better as the weeks go on and he stormed to a 9-4 win and finished up with a superb 9-0 win in what was a great win for Sam and a little bit of pride for Bromley.
4-1 to Old Wils and well deserved.
Lovely Ribs to end the night and some good chat with the top boys from Old Wils where we learned that Hany died twice when 21 and also lost a finger....... I didn't dream that did I ???
