Report

Report:We (Dulwich) bounces back from last weeks close lose to record a good solid win over our promotion rivals PL. Jack and Howard began proceedings against Mr Cotton and Mr Ramsey respectfully. After losing the first game Jack levelled his match at 1-1 with some good squash. Unfortunately, Mr Cotton then suffered an injury, which restricted his movement and made the following two games a formality. Howard was pitted against a much younger opponent but was able to put his greater experience to use by not allowing Mr Ramsey to get any kind of rhythm. Classic youth v experience and this time experience was the victor.
I then took the court against Ryan. Ryan struck the ball very well and hard. However, I was able to keep the ball straight and tight in the first and took it. Feeling confident I reverted back to my old game of loose mid-court shots and terrible drops. This resulted in me deservedly losing the game. After being reminded of my first game play, I was able to straighten my game and put Ryan on the back foot. I did benefit from some uncharacteristic mistakes from Ryan and took the match 3-1.
J-P had a good fast paced, hard-hitting affair with Mr Boatwright. The better shots came from the visitor and J-P suffered for being too loose.
Having said that, the shots still have to be put away and Mr Boatwright was very good at doing that.
Lastly Steve took on Gary. Bit of a scrappy affair but Steve was able to move Gary around and then used some good drops to take the first game. Gary jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the 2nd but then seemed to switch off and Steve came back to take it 9-7. The 3rd was a reverse of the 2nd with Steve almost losing an 8-2 lead when Gary came back to make it 8-7. I swear Steve only does this to wind me up. He took the game 9-7 and ended a match on a winning note for Dulwich.
