Report

Report:Bromley's rapid free fall down the league continues with this their 3rd successive defeat. Having won the first five games of the season and topping the league things have since gone horribly wrong. Reminder to speak to our friends at David Lloyd who not only brought our winning run to an end a couple of weeks ago but have now this week given the current league leaders a walkover. Must cancel my son's membership there.

Seriously though this was a thoroughly enjoyable evening especially meeting up with some "old" familiar faces and wrist splints from Blackheath.

The games were all played in the best possible taste sorry I meant spirit. The main features of the evening including another valiant effort from Alistair who strangely keeps coming up against much younger opponents every week! Mark also gamely tried despite having just come off court after a strenuous game of racquetball (whatever that is). Equally Graham sweated buckets in his game and all over the dinner table later. But the real highlight, and this is a little bit cruel, was Dave's howler at match point down to Steve, when he had an easy ball at the front of the court, the rest of the court at his mercy, his opponent completely stranded at the back, and yes you've guessed it, he contrived, after much serious consideration to stuff it straight in the tin.

On arriving upstairs afterwards all he could say was that he had too much time to think about the shot. What does that say about squash players I wonder.
