| Report: | Acting star Jake first up, takes the first against the run of play, loses a game through lack of focus, comes back strong to take over 3-1 win. Meanwhile Veer takes on Garth, with plenty of girth, but you wouldn’t tell him as had 157 amateur fights for the Fisher Club. Last time Veer won but had to battle, especially physical . This time Veer won comfortably - retrieving well, consistently accurate and pacey - boasting improved - 3-0 with Garth recognising how much Veer has improved. On goes Giles, playing a good player who’s been out for a while. Tonight the best of Giles showed through - hitting everything crisply, moving well, had opponent under continued pressure - no “tin man” tonight. Excellent - wins 3-0. Finally, the captain playing Steve T, an experienced player, who despit his large frame, moves extremely well - albeit for the first game and a half. Tony had to work hard in the first game / mostly retrieving as Steve was hitting the ball so hard and low with minimum swing - and some good half court kills. Tony , as always dug in, worked his opponent out, kept the rallies going and after the first, dominated the pace of the game and won comfortably. Credit to Bexley for turning up with a weakened team and making the matches as competitive as they were. Jake was sent out to get the Pizzas - now he knows why he was chosen ( nobody else would have gone)!! Well done team. |
