Report: | An extrememly close fought top of the table battle. After a late start the match opened with the 5's which cobdown were relieved to win after a close 5 setter which set the trend of the evening. Next on were the 2's and after coming back again from a recurring injury Graham was more than happy to claim a game from the foray. The 4's were on next in what proved to be an extremely close game between John-Paul and Kevin which at times was more like chess at the front of the court but in the end perhaps stamina won the day with the fifth being far more one sided than the rest. Then the return match between Jack and Shane at No.3 which after a very entertaining well matched contest resulted in exactly the same result as the first leg with Jack coming out triumphant 10-8 in the fifth. So it was up to the titans at No.1 to settle the match - perhaps the first time all season that Alan Briscoe has walked on to a court knowing that the match result was in his hands. But he proved he could take the pressure to win through in a match which was much closer than the 3-0 win would suggest. Well done Cobdown - tremendous win away from home to confirm their position at the top of the table with just two to go! Very good enjoyable evening with the friendly Dulwich team and their supporters. Good luck Dulwich with the rest of your season. |
