Report

Report:A reversal of the result against Blackheath earlier in the season with Bromley nicking it 3/2 this time, with the last match of the evening involving the no.2s, Graham and Dave, being the decider. Inevitably it went to 5 games with a rather bloodied Graham coming out on top in the end. Graham's injury being an off the ball incident involving a wall!! Graham's eye looked quite nasty but you should see the wall!!

The no.1s and 3s similarly played out 5 setters which could have have gone either way with Graham battling back from 2-0 down(again) only to lose a close 5th game (again). Both players expended vast amounts of energy and sweat in the process and it was a shame someone had to lose but someone does! Alistair also lost his game to 7 in the fifth and could easily have won it. Unusually for Ali he seemed to lose his cool a little in this game against an opponent who does rather like to take his time over things on court, although he is pretty quick to ask for lets. Nonetheless this was quite an absorbing game with a lot of rallies up and down the backhand side with both players volleying seemingly unplayable balls tight to the wall.

By way of contrast the Bromley no.4 and 5 both had comfortable 3-0 wins, although Blackheath's no.5 Scott should be commended for turning out at such short notice and their no.4 Dan obviously had his mind on his kitchen duties rather than his squash because the meal was excellent. I just had the two helpings!!
