Report

Report:A Highly strung night but Cobdown managed to come back from 3rd in the table to top pending the Dulwich result on Thursday but have done enough to ensure promotion. Very close up and down match but Alan Briscoe came through unscathed to remain undefeated dropping just 5 games all season - well done Al! Phil played at 2 and came second to a very strong Matt who, if he keeps it up is definately a name to look out for in the future. Keith Holland went on at 5 this week and after being totally out played for the first two games came back strongly once again to level at 2-2 before the youth overcame in the the fifth with Park Langely taking it to put them 2-1 up.
So it was up to the 3's & 4's to decide the match which was very worrying for Cobdown as Graham Beale had been having a torrid time of late and Kevin Jacques having lost 10-9 in the 5th last week was not his normal confidant self. But despite this Graham went on last but came off before kevin with a convincing 3-0 win leaving the match, promotion and possibly the title hanging on the result of the 4's and Anthony having won the first had put Kevin against the wall a little. Finding some mental strength Kevin came out to take the next 2 games 9,3 9,0 but then found himself up against it in the fourth but having served for the match and unbeknown to him promotion twice finally nailed a 3-1 win at 10,9 to clinch promotion for Cobdown - I'd like to call it a real captains performance but it was by no means pretty! Park Langley, arriving at Cobdown top of the table were obviously disappointed not to gaurantee promotion but were good sports on the night and an enjoyable night was had by most. Over to you Dulwich but the cry fom Cobdown is 'COME ON SYDENHAM'!!!
