Report

Report:Another comprehensive victory for BCC even without Captain Pugwash (maybe a message here!).

The evening didn't start off too well as Straight Arm and Turkish headed off south. Not wanting to take orders from the "Sat Nav women", we took a minor detour around Kent until we finally relented and let "her" guide us to Cobdown. Even more galling was that the slowest driver in the world, Sweaty Sock, got there before us even though we left hours before him.

Match reports:

#5’s - K Saunders v Mad Dog
The warm up suggested an easy win for Mad Dog as his greater control would beat the crash, bang, wallop style of his opponent. Apart from an early exchange in the first game, Mad Dog cruised through the games one and two. However, he got caught up in a slug it out battle in the third but managed to pull through after having a world record number of match points. 3-0 Mad Dog.

#4’s - J Dale v Posh Bloke
Didn't see much of this one, but Posh Bloke won despite not playing that well (his words not mine). 3-0 Posh Bloke

#3’s - D Johnson v Straight Arm
This had the makings of a marathon as neither player was renown for their drop shots. As predicted the rallies were long drawn out affairs usually ending up with a backhand cross court drop(ish) from Straight Arm. During one rally when his opponent hit a unexpected winning drop, a Cobdown spectator choked on his beer in disbelief. Straight Arm 3-0.

#2’s - G Beale v Sweaty Sock
Some controlled squash and several unforced errors by his opponent meant that old Sweaty cake walked the first two games. But in the third the worm was to turn. At certain points old Sweaty's brain forgot to tell his legs that they needed to change direction, but with his usual composure whilst under pressure, old Sweaty pinch the third. 3-0 Sweaty Sock.

#1’s – M Walsom v Turkish
This was to be a bruising affair (literally for Turkish) as Mark raced around the court at ninety miles an hour knocking over anything in his path. Turkish won the first after some long rallies, but let Mark back in the second as his usual tight squash failed him. Slowing down the pace in the third, Turkish won a controlled game 9-0 in spite of being hit by the ball after Mark's wild return of serve, and after being even a dead leg after Mark kneed him in the back of the calf. Yeah Mark, I know you didn't mean to. Anyway, it took away the pain of the hernia. 3-0 Turkish.

Food was good so was the smoke free atmosphere. The night finished on a high for Straight Arm & Turkish as they overtook Sweaty on the M20.
