Report

Report:It’s been a while since any of BCC have been to Old Wilsonians but we all got there after a few laps of Hayes!! I must say that the courts we great, I don’t miss the Old Dunstonian courts one bit!!

Tricky V Andy
We surely know the golf season is over as Tricky was there early, changed and ready to play! As normal Tricky stormed into the first pulling every shot in his vast repertoire out the bag to take the first 9-2. Andy decided he had to get his a**e in gear and that he did to take the next 9-4, Tricky still on his come back to fitness regime, the VT program*, was running out of steam by this point and would have preferred the match to be best of one!! Andy took the next two and the match 3-1. *VT = Vodka and Tonic

Smiler V Steve
This was a real sew-saw of a match with Steve going 2-1 up after three, Steve was playing very steady and getting around the court very well which was catching Smiler out. Smiler rose to the occasion and took the next comfortably 9-4 to level the match. The fifth was a close one but Smiler won the day to take the match 3-2. A good win.

Coach V Chris
This promised to be a blistering match judging by the warm up. I only saw part of the first game but Coach looked well in control and took the first 9-7, Coach was just too fast around the court for Chris, I think Coach was trying to get away from the infra-red heaters singing that thin patch on top of his head!!! Coach kept up the pace to take the second 9-7, by the time the third started it was all over 9-0 and the match 3-0. Star performance.

Big Andy V John
Last time Big Andy played John it was at their old club and John was on form that day so I’m sure was looking for revenge, which he did in the first 9-4. Big Andy decided to do something about it and engage brain, yes there is one there somewhere, keeping the ball hard and tight and away from John managed to take the next two 4 & 0 to go 2-1 up. This spurred John on in the forth, a tough game, Big Andy became a bit loose and to John this was Xmas and put his deft touch to good use, Big Andy became very frustrated and had a little argument with the marker, purely stress relief you understand!! At this point John did refer to me as ‘Kevin Kimber’, no one likes to be that! I think John may have played Kevin the week before eh! John took that game to level the match 2-2. Big Andy sorted it out in the fifth to win 3-2.

Bruiser V Mick
This was undoubtedly the match of the evening and was the difference between 4-1 and 3-2 victory for BCC. Both players fought long and hard in this match and throughout there was nothing to choose between them. The quality of squash excellent with tight long rallies for the most part. It really came down to the money shot at the end of the rallies that did it and Mick got a few more up than Bruiser to take the match 3-1. Easily the best match to watch so far this season. And Mick perhaps he does know!!!

Man of the match - Coach…….. again

Good hospitaliy and a good evening. Thanks guys.

And just for Karen Hume I've spell checked it!
