Report: | A fine battling win by Bromley with good performances from the whole team. Even though ALASTAIR lost 3-1 playing at 1 he pushed Paul all the way and the scores in the last two games didn't really reflect the play. But a valuable point won for Bromley nonetheless and it was a good game to watch and to mark. Some of the rallies were of excellent quality. Well done Paul.
Mike playing at 2 and unbeaten so far this season had a comfortable win over Richard. Didn't see any of the game but Mike is playing well at the moment, but then he needs to be if he wants to get anywhere in the forthcoming doubles competition.
The other unblemished record in the squad belongs to Steve and remains intact still - but only just. Playing at 3 he was given a stern test by John in a topsy-turvey game that saw both players win games 9-0. and with John having match points in the 4th. But Steve as he seems to do gritted his teeth and hung in for the win.
The no.4s saw Alan and I on court with Alan bravely sporting a Crystal Palace shirt! He obviously played really badly last week! Must try this motivational ploy with some of my lot. They would rather die than....... etc etc. Anyhow Alan lost this encounter also - so he may be in the shirt again next week.
With the match wrapped up Graham went on stress free at 5 and proved far too strong for Kevin. Mind you going by the shorts he was wearing I think Kevin must have played badly as well last week!
So Bromley on a bit of a roll now and for the moment up to 2nd place and with our No.1 recovering fast from injury things are looking good for a promotion push in the second half of the season. Famous last words eh but at least we are good at marking having done all 5 matches on this occasion. Maybe the Sydenham boys will return the favour at their place.
