Report: | With Bromley looking to gain the necessary points in this game to secure a promotion place, it was no great disappointment to find that Old Colfeians were missing both their unbeaten No.s 1 and 2.
There was however still a nasty shock in store for Alastair, who came up against a very determined Sat who was quite prepared to run all night and some more. I don't think any of us, least of all Alastair, could believe the amount of dogged retrieving Sat was able to do, and as the game developed it slowly dawned on us all that Alastair was struggling to produce winning shots and that he could actually lose this game. In the end he did, although at 6-6 in the 5th game Sat benefited from 2 consecutively mishit winning shots which rather knocked the stuffing out of Alastair. However all credit to the Old Colfeians player who will look back on that result with a good deal of "sat"isfaction!!
The other games all went as form predicted. Tony's more muscular approach was far too much for Sid's more leisurely graceful style. Mike after an uncertain start won comfortably in the end and as an Old Colfeian himself went off to the bar in search of some memories of younger days. Steve's all round game was too good for Tommy's enthusiastic but more limited game ( a good drop shot would improve his game considerably).
It was good to see Graham also get a win under his belt and after winning the first two games to nil was in danger of resurrecting his "hard b*stard" nickname. But Rupert got on the score sheet in the third, much to everybody's relief before Graham got back on his game to finish the match off.
So a useful 19 point haul which means Bromley have achieved promotion and all that remains is the small matter of a game against Cannons next week to determine who wins the league. What fun!!
