Report: | This was a thoroughly enjoyable match. It was competetive and played in the right spirit by all - especially the Beckenham number 5. A beer or two was enjoyed by all and we look forward to the return in the winter league.
Kendall still having problems with his shoes and the old injury decided wisely to retire. This was a shame for the crowd as him and Lee put up an excellent first game. I understand that Lee was also carrying an injury - the summer season has been far too long. Olly won after a first game that seemed to be decisive toward the final outcome.
At 3 Steve came through an unusual encounter. Both players conceding that this was not an orthodox encounter. Blame it on the length of the season. At 4 the author was given a fine lesson in the art of retrieving and hitting straight. The Dulwich player seemed incapable of increasing the pace on the ball aka giving it a good welly. Blame it on the length of the season. Though I suspect Cathy might have something to say about that - she seemed perfectly fit for the match.
At 5 was the game of the night. Rhys was ordered to stay at work once Beckenhan confirmed that they did not have a number 5. Wise choice given the length of this season. |
