| Report: | A cracking nights squash, all going down to the last match.
Lee was comfortable against Darren at 1, bit too much pace from Lee and a few too many errors from Darren.
Didn't see any of the Matt's game but from all accounts Gill played very well and his Langley counterpart was strangely off colour, either way a great result for Beckenham.
With the Andy's, Blackman took a tight first and thats all I saw but think the apparently in-form Davies had too much speed round court and general fitness.
The 4's were the definition of Jekyll and Hyde on both parts, Si coming back from a tightish first to seemingly find his game, only to fade in the final two and some tight stuff from Mike proving to be enough, lets not mention the unforced error counts of either player. Fitness training needed for both players!
The last game on court a battle of two old mates. Everyone predicting a speedy 3-0 win for Andy saw Geoff take a competitive first before Andy proceeded to blitz through the next two. This had me sweating on the bar bill. But to much surprise Geoff forced a 5th with a game of winners and despite going 7-1 down in the last he pulled it back to 7-8 before Andy finally had enough to put him away, a fantastic game to ultimately decide the match.
Slightly annoyed we won 11-9 in games and lost the match but thems the rules! Cheers to PL, always an irritating one to lose though! |
