Report: | Bromley didn't expect to get much out of this game against Tunbridge Wells and the result went true to the form book, although there were a couple of outstanding individual Bromley performances on the night.
Neil as the score line shows was streets ahead of his opponent, and he also showed a previously unseen aggressive approach in his game. Something or other had fired him up and the effect was devastating, only losing 6 points.
Similarly Steve played by far his best game of the season, playing great winners throughout the game, and left his opponent trying to demolish our wall and his racket at the end of the game.
Meanwhile Graham despite running his heart out only collectd 6 points, which seemed an unfair reward for the effort he was putting in. He did however have 2 opponents on court. Richard, and himself!!
Alastair and Chris looked pretty even, although after winning the second game I thought the Bromley man looked well placed to go on and win it. But Chris seemed to get a 2nd wind and won the next two games, although the 4th game was nip and tuck right up to the last couple of points.
Tony, groin strain or no groin strain, was always going to find it tough against Steve who is far and away the best player in this Division and the 3-0 score came as no surprise. But thanks to Tony for turning out - it would have been easy to have cried off.
No disgrace in this result for Bromley therefore, in restricting the promotion hopefuls to the minimum points a winning team can achieve. |
