Report

Report:A real dent in any promotion hopes Bromley might have had following this fairly comprehensive defeat at the hands of our old rivals from Cannons.

For the second consecutive season I have been cursed by my inclusion in Gary Barrett's " Team of the Half Season". The last time this happened in the summer, again after an unbeaten run, I was not to win another game during that season. So true to form my unbeaten run this season came to a grinding halt and again at the hands of Dave. Thanks again Gary.

In similar fashion Graham competed well in the first two games of his match with Mark, but like me could not sustain the necessary effort and lost the last two games badly.

At least Mike looked as if he was going to gain a much needed win in his mtach with Richard, but that one also went the other way with Richard coming back from a 2-0 deficit to win the hard way.

Whilst that struggle was going on I had the dubious pleasure of marking Ali and Mike on the other court. A game which was full of numerous let calls and exasperated gasps from both players at the markers decsions. Oh well can't win 'em all. The second game was pivotal with Mike nicking it 10/8 and although Ali played really well to take the third game Mike had a bit more in the tank and was able to win the fourth and the match. Overall however it was difficult to disagree with the view of the gallery that this was a "horrible" match!! Let's hope Ali finds a bit more room on court when he plays in the Scottish doubles tournament at the weeekend!!

So it was left to Tony to go on with Nick and try and save the whitewash which he duly did in some style. But his end of match comment was to the effect that it's no good him winning if the team loses!! No answer to that really.
