Report: | What a second half to the season Dulwich have had. 5 wins out of 6 matches has seen us recover to 3rd place in the league from bottom position at the Christmas break.
The game against Blackheath could have gone either way. In the end Dulwich were able to nick the win due mainly to an heroic performance from young Jack Burgess, who was able to come back from 2-0 down, against R. Piper, to take his match 3-2. This was a game for squash lovers. It had everything and went right to the wire. Both players got a standing ovation at the end.Shame there had to be a loser but I'm glad it was Mr Piper. That was the highlight of the evening. The other matches produced little to speak about, especially my match against Dave Pryce, which saw me give away a 7-3 lead in the 1st and an 8-3 lead in the second, to eventually lose3-0. Jim Turner made a triumphant return to the Dulwich team, with a 3-0 win over D.Slater. Jim's well diguised backhand drop proved to be the telling differance between the two. Steve Hall also returned to the Dulwich starting lineup and had a good scrapwith Mark Baker. Both men gave the ball plenty of welly but Steve's greater fitness told in the end. A pleasure to play against Blackheath.Even better to beat them. With one game left Dulwich hope to make 3rd place our own. |
