Report

Report: Dulwich recovered nicely from last weeks narrow lose to Fitness Exchange, with a fine win over Cannons. Helped by the no show of Cannons No 2 (who ironically was late because he was receiving a squash acheivement award)Dulwich's team produced a 4-1 win. Young Jack Burgess and the more mature Ed Davey took to the courts first and ran out 3-0 winners against P.Fraine and S.Roper respectfully. Both games contained some very good squash, but both Jack and Ed had the better variety of shots which told in the end.
Then I took on Andy Hunt of Cannons in the battle of the team captains. Despite losing the first I rallied to take the second and had a chance to take the third but Andy refused to give up and caused me to make too many errors which lead to a win for him. Finally our team inspiration Tony Brown had a thrilling 5 setter against P.Young of Cannons. Tony was suffering with a cold but insisted on playing.Tony took the first with some delightful play but then lost the next two quite easily. It seemed at that time that the game was over but we reckoned without the never say die spirit of Tony, who dragged his 55yrs + body back onto the court and clawed his way back into the match by taking the fourth. With all to play for both players produced every shot and trick shot in their repertoires in an effort to take the win.Tony ran out the winner and had the bragging rights in the bar after. Nice chilli for dinner and we were made very welcome by the opposition.
