| Report: | Warwick & Paul started the evening in the usual form. Though Paul was a little over his fighting weight, Warwick never made any real inroads. The game went as expected with a straight 3 love win for Paul.
Dave Allen took on Jim Turner and although it looks like it could swing either way Jim ended up taking it quite comfortably.
Baz played Dan and with a track record of Baz taking wins on all previous encounters this was going to be an interesting one as Dan had really pick up his game. A close run match - but Dan came through to get his first one over on Baz (look forward to the rematch of this one).
Hylton & Richard was always going to be the game to avoid referring. A highly competitive pair in a well matched game. Much as both players convinced themselves at time that they were umpiring the game, Paul did a great job of ignoring the banter and called it as he saw it.
I had the fortune of playing James for the first time - who had not yet come across my style of playing (which worked to my advantage on a very hot court) and after a few too many unexpected retrievals James lost his concentration (or his energy and gifted the final game to me). Me thinks it will be different next time !
The fighting dog in the Roses caused one or two concerns if it wants my chicken wings it can have them all Dan had done all his fighting for one night, and although Richard enjoyed the bishops finger there was no way he was going to stay the night in the Inn.
