Report: | First out of the traps were Ron and Christo who were closely matched for most of the first game but Ron was the more mobile, getting to some difficult drops and this showed in the end. Ray had an awful start against Scott whose agility was eventually tested by Ray's sliced drops, but it was anyone's match in the 5th. Tim and Vic had a bit of a see-saw match with strings of points going to one and then the other, largely dependent on whether or not Vic's delicate boasts came off. Towards the end they didn't, partly due to Tim's pressure. Paul no doubt thought he was in for an easy win as he coasted through the first game whilst Graham was scrappy and threw himself about the court. However, although Graham continued to throw himself about the court, his shots were tighter and progressively more varied and Paul had no answer to their pace and range. The final duel featured Mark and Adam who arguably provided the most exciting rubber. Unfortunately, I missed the turning point when Mark stared defeat in the face but saw the finale when they traded blows, playing excellent squash.
As is often the case with close victories in Priory, the score-line rather flatters the winning team but Bromley have no complaints. |
