| Report: | Top of the table clash and it was always going to be a tight match. Neutral spectators may well have thought they were watching a Priory one match.
Ron/Bob this went to the fifth with Bob wearing Ron down to win 3-2, although Ron had a match point in the fourth. With Richard cruising at 2-1 it was looking good for OE2, then Tim dug deep and with Rich's nerves he won 3-2. Match squared at 1-1.
Steve was too strong this time in the rematch with Kevin and won 3-1. Justyn looked on top at times in the match but Paul was the stronger in the fifth and won 3-2. Match squared at 2-2.
Mehmet and Mark in the decider, this was 3-2 to Mehmet last time. Mehmet went 2-1 up but Mark hung in there to win 10/8 in the fourth. Nerves were showing on the gallery as well as the court. Marks 'sharapova' like yelps doing there best to put Mehmet off. It was always going to 10 and Mehmet got there first.
Old Elts won 18-11 in a reverse result to the start of the season. Hopefully will see this team again in Division 4 for another classic encounter.
Both teams play in the cup next week looking at a league and cup double. |
