Report: | Ron was still in the changing room when Chris S-B started but soon clawed back the 6 point deficit. Then he moved tireless Chris around the court making fewer errors and lobbing sweetly. Meanwhile Mark threw everything into his contest with Mike, including his head, but strapping it back on he fought his way to victory. Knole Park came back into the picture with Mark F, Paul's nemesis from an earlier encounter, winning in straight games. Tim struggled in the first two games with Chris M but seemed to be gaining control when Chris held his nerve and Tim's shots went shaky. At 2-2 Brian & Jerry went on for the decider. A 9-0 first game is always a potential disaster and Jerry won steadily more points until, at 8-5 in the third game, he seemed to have earned himself a fourth. But Brian upped the pace and stole the match at 9-8, (despite JJ's marking).
[Good report, PRM - apart from that last comment. Pity KP couldn't quite do the double over ancient rivals BLT - and congrats to OE - worthy league champrs.
Thanks to all the ladies for their outstanding hospitality - and to birthday boy, Paul - for being born - sadly without a champagne cork in his mouth. Use the money to get your knee braces, Paul. JJ] |
