| Report: | Knole were looking for someone to smack this week. Still angry at their captain for losing the league lead and their pride to Acacia Hall last week, Knole were in no mood to give quarter to Bexley.
Lee Atkins’s Bexley boys bravely showed up, to face Bexley old boy Rutherford and his new henchmen hungry for blood.
Chris Morgan, Mark Fleming and PJ himself disposed of Gary Bayley, Lee Atkins and Charlie Watt respectively 3-0. Chris Sayer, sluggish from injury and weight gain (he says), took a little longer to beat a determined Alan Hawes 3-1.
Only Gary Mitchell and Nanu Bana provided any entertainment. Gary hung on to the number 3 slot, mainly due to arriving early. So early that Nanu did not seem to be awake for the first game and a half. When he did get going, he found Gary determined to fight for every point. By the time they got to the deciding fifth game, Nanu’s mistakes were becoming more frequent and Gary’s greater desire made the difference. Knole haven’t found their real number 3 yet, but some of the old Mitchell touches showed potential.
20-3 was a nice haul for Knole. Let’s hope that the fearless Fredericks five did the biz over Acacia Hall to bring the Christmas bragging rights back home to Knole Park.
